Sono molto diverse, malgrado alcuni titoli che coincidono, la top ten dei Cahiers du Cinéma, che mette al primo posto Holy Motors di Leos Carax, e quella della rivista britannica del BFI Sight & Sound, che sceglie come miglior film del 2012 The Master di Paul Thomas Anderson.
